Your salary never leaves your browser
Every calculator on Payjoey runs entirely on your own device. Your pay, your study loan balance, your super and everything else you type are never transmitted to us and never stored by us. We could not show you your own figures back if you asked, because we never had them.
Nothing is written into the page address while you type either. When you press “Share this result”, the link encodes your inputs after a # — the fragment, which browsers keep to themselves and never send to any server, ours included. A page this site serves also clears that fragment out of the address bar before any third-party script could read it. Close the tab and the numbers are gone.
This matters more here than on most calculator sites. What you enter is your income, and on some pages your debts. It is worth being specific about where it goes: nowhere.
Analytics
We collect aggregated website analytics: pages visited, approximate region, device type and how you found us. It tells us which calculators are useful and which pages fail people. It is not used to identify you, and it never contains anything you typed into a calculator.
It is measured two ways, and they are not the same kind of thing.Cloudflare Web Analytics is a small script our host adds to each page, which sends a page-view count, with how long the page took to load, from your browser to Cloudflare. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device, so there is nothing to agree to and nothing to switch off.Google Analytics tells us more — which pages people arrive on, and what they read next — but it does set a cookie.
Because it sets a cookie, Google Analytics is not loaded for everyone. If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, it loads only after you have accepted the notice at the bottom of the page; decline and it is never loaded at all. If we cannot tell where you are visiting from, we ask rather than assume. Your answer is kept in your browser’s local storage, on your device only, so the notice does not ask again. The page counts above run either way, so declining costs you nothing and costs us very little.
Advertising
Payjoey is free, and it uses Google AdSense for the advertising that pays for it. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites, and third parties may place and read cookies in your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ads being served here. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google in Ads Settings. Other vendors and ad networks may also serve ads here through Google’s system; you can opt out of many vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info, or at youronlinechoices.com in Europe. Google explains what it does with information from the sites that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Opting out does not remove ads; it stops them being personalised.
If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google shows you personalised ads only with your consent. Consent to advertising is Google’s to ask for, separately from the analytics notice described above, which is ours.
Two things advertising never does here. It never influences a calculator’s result, and no advertiser is ever told what you typed into one — we could not tell them if we wanted to.
Hosting and logs
The site is served as static files by our hosting provider, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. That is ordinary infrastructure logging, it happens for every website you visit, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
If you email us we keep the correspondence, so we can reply and so we can fix anything you report. We do not add you to any list without asking, and we do not sell or share your address.
Your rights, and who to ask
Payjoey is operated from outside Australia for an Australian audience, and we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we hold almost nothing about you, most access and correction requests have a short answer — but if you want to know what we hold, ask and we will tell you.
Privacy questions and complaints: [email protected]. If we cannot resolve a complaint, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au can take it further.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
